4. Cook – Fixed-Term Contract Closing Date: 6 November 2026
The hospital is recruiting a Cook to prepare quality meals for patients, doctors and staff members.
Duties and Responsibilities
-Collects and weighs ingredients from the cold room enough for a day’s food production. -Records intended ingredients quantities for the day’s food production in the production sheet book. -Prepares the food as per menu of the day in line with patients, doctors, and staff numbers following the standard recipes. -Cleans and sanitize work surface using the 3-bucket system. -Participates in kitchen service stock inventory count and period end food stock take or stock counts. -Records daily cold room and freezer’s temperature readings and reports out of range temperatures where necessary. -Arranges the ingredients on appropriate shelves to avoid cross contamination in the cold room and all food storage areas. -Takes used kitchen equipment to the scullery for washing. -Arranges the ingredients in the cold room following the FIFO rule. -Covers food dishes and labels them with production and expiry date stickers and places them in the cold room.
Qualifications and Experience
-The ideal candidate should possess: 5 O’ Levels including English, Mathematics and Science. -Class one (1) in the trade of cook. -Diploma in Professional Cookery is an added advantage. -Experience working in a pastry section producing confectionery products and desserts. -1 year experience in an industrial kitchen with a la carte service. -Experience working in a medical facility is an added advantage. -Must be mature, pleasant, courteous, cooperative, and an enthusiastic team player with good communication skills. Able to work under pressure.
