AUTOMATION ENGINEER

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
-Design, install, commission and maintain industrial automation systems.
Program, configure and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems.
-Maintain and troubleshoot HMI and SCADA systems.
-Configure and maintain sensors, actuators, variable-frequency drives and control equipment.
-Diagnose faults in automated machinery and industrial control systems.
-Integrate electrical, electronic, mechanical and automation systems.
-Commission new automated machinery and production equipment.
-Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
-Optimize automated systems to improve production efficiency and equipment reliability.
-Conduct root-cause analysis of recurring automation and control-system failures.
-Troubleshoot industrial communication networks and automation interfaces.
-Read and interpret electrical schematics, control diagrams and automation documentation.
-Maintain PLC programs, system backups and technical documentation.
-Support upgrades and modernization of existing automation systems.
-Train and provide technical support to technicians and engineering personnel.

Qualifications and Experience

-Bachelor's Degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline.
-Practical experience with industrial automation systems.
-Strong knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting.
-Experience with HMI and SCADA systems.
-Knowledge of variable-frequency drives, sensors, actuators and industrial control equipment.
-Experience in machine commissioning and automation system integration.
-Strong electrical and control-system fault-finding skills.
-Knowledge of industrial communication protocols and networks is an advantage.
-Experience in mining, manufacturing, mineral processing or heavy industry is an advantage.
