FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES The Communication Science Department is the newest addition to the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. It houses the undergraduate Hons Bachelor of Communication Science degree. The Department runs Short Courses in Media and Communication, Media and Digital Marketing, Radio Short Story Writing, Graphics and Desktop Publishing as well as housing the British Council B2B Registration Centre Status for IELTS. Furthermore, the Department also runs a flagship of the University and Faculty: Abiyangu FM Radio Station. Duties and Responsibilities
Communication Science Department Broadcasting Posts Station Manager (1 Post) The successful candidate would be overally in-charge of the Radio Station and should exhibit demonstrable management skills with the capacity to inspire subordinates. He/she should show commitment, focus and be transparent in handling management issues.
Establish a working ethos at the Station; Develop standard operating procedures for the new Station; Monetise spaces with effectiveness and accountability; Participate in Outreach activities in the department; Maintain Station visibility across the University and in the community.
Qualifications and Experience
Degree in Media, Journalism and/or Communication or its equivalent; Any additional paper qualifications in line with the post would be an added advantage; Exposure to broadcasting environment or running a station for at least two (2) years would be a distinct advantage.
Personal Attributes Should have studio experience and exposure to broadcasting industry; Must be articulate and sensitive to environmental and human factors; Capacity to build a team, supervise and execute tasks; Trustworthy and dependable; Clearance certificate may be required.
