Sister in Charge
Sunningdale Medical Centre (SMC) is seeking to employ an experienced and qualified Sister in Charge to lead our nursing team.
Brief Description
The Sister in Charge provides strong clinical leadership and operational management to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care while driving departmental performance, growth, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
* Clinical Leadership
+ Supervise nursing staff and ensure safe, quality patient care
+ Maintain high standards of nursing practice and ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures
+ Monitor patient outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives
+ Respond promptly to emergencies and critical concerns
* Strategic Planning and Business Growth
+ Develop and implement strategies to increase patient numbers and improve service delivery
+ Contribute to the hospital's strategic plans and ensure departmental goals align with organizational objectives
+ Identify opportunities to introduce new services that meet community healthcare needs
+ Monitor department performance against key performance indicators
* Financial Management
+ Ensure efficient utilization of resources to minimize wastage and control costs
+ Conduct financial budgets and recommend cost-saving measures without compromising quality
+ Support revenue generation by promoting quality services, improving patient satisfaction, and encouraging service uptake
* Quality Assurance
+ Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control standards and clinical best practices
+ Monitor quality indicators and implement continuous improvement measures
+ Conduct regular audits, clinical reviews, and quality assurance activities
* Staff Management
+ Schedule, supervise, and evaluate nursing staff
+ Mentor, coach, and develop employees through continuous training and performance reviews
+ Promote teamwork, discipline, and professional conduct
+ Participate in recruitment, orientation, and retention of nursing personnel
Additional Responsibilities
* Compliance and Risk Management
+ Ensure compliance with healthcare requirements and accreditation standards
+ Identify and manage clinical and operational risks
+ Investigate incidents and implement preventive measures
* Stakeholder Engagement
+ Collaborate with doctors, allied health professionals, and management to achieve hospital goals
+ Build positive relationships with patients, families, and external partners
+ Represent the nursing department in management meetings and strategic planning sessions
* Operational Excellence
+ To lead in the clinical department, setting and maintaining high standards and observing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
* Patient Care and Service Excellence
+ Ensure patient-centered care and maintain high levels of patient satisfaction
+ Promote a culture of compassion, respect, and dignity in all interactions
* Professional Development
+ Encourage continuous learning and professional development among staff
+ Promote adherence to ethical standards and nursing code of conduct
Qualifications
* Diploma in nursing
* Business management or related qualification will be an added advantage
