job Description

The SHEQ Officer will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving the organisation’s SHEQ framework to ensure compliance with statutory requirements, industry best practices, and company standards. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of waste management operations, risk management, and SHEQ legislation.

Duties and Responsibilities

-Develop, implement, and monitor SHEQ policies, procedures, and risk management plans.
-Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and incident investigations to ensure compliance.
-Lead safety inductions, toolbox talks, and SHEQ-related training for staff and contractors.
-Ensure adherence to environmental management practices, including waste handling standards.
-Maintain SHEQ documentation, records, and reporting in line with ISO standards (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001).
-Promote a strong safety culture and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
-Liaise with regulatory bodies, clients, and internal departments on SHEQ matters.
-Track and report on key SHEQ performance indicators.

Qualifications and Experience

-Degree in Occupational Safety, Health, Environment, Quality Management or related field.
-Professional certification is an added advantage.
-Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in SHEQ roles, preferably in waste management, logistics, or industrial operations.
-Strong understanding of SHEQ laws, environmental standards, and risk assessment.
-Experience with ISO management systems is desirable.
-Good communication, analytical and report-writing skills.
-Valid driver’s licence is an added advantage.
