About the Position We are seeking a highly skilled and results-oriented Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of our gold mining project. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing production, optimizing operational efficiency, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and driving continuous improvement across all mining processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee and coordinate all aspects of mine operations, including production, processing, maintenance, and logistics. Develop and implement operational strategies to meet production targets and cost objectives. Ensure compliance with statutory mining, health, safety, and environmental standards. Supervise and mentor technical and operations teams to ensure maximum performance and accountability. Prepare and manage operational budgets and production forecasts. Work closely with the geology, engineering, and metallurgical departments to optimize ore extraction and recovery. Oversee maintenance of mining equipment and plant to ensure reliability and efficiency. Liaise with management, regulatory authorities, and community stakeholders as required. Drive continuous improvement initiatives in operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years experience in the mining industry, with at least 5 years in a senior operational management role. Proven experience in gold mining operations (open-pit and/or underground). Strong understanding of mine planning, production scheduling, and metallurgical processes. Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities. Excellent knowledge of mine safety regulations and environmental compliance standards. Strong analytical, budgeting, and reporting skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and mining software (e.g., Surpac, MineSched, or similar). Possession of a Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency or equivalent qualification will be an added advantage.
