Vacancy: Headmaster
Operations/Location: Murray MacDougall Primary School – Triangle
Reporting To: General Manager – Infrastructure and Support Services
Purpose of Role:
The Headmaster will provide leadership through resource mobilization, allocation, utilization, and monitoring. The role involves effective school administration including planning, staffing, organizing, budgeting, reporting, and evaluation to ensure the delivery of high-quality education. The Headmaster will oversee a comprehensive, all-round Primary Education continuous assessment programme and the summative evaluation of students’ and teachers’ performance.
-Provide financial, human, and material resources required by teachers for effective teaching and learning.
-Evaluate content coverage of examinations and tests given to students for each end-of-term assessment.
-Review students’ progress reports before distribution to parents and guardians.
-Supervise extra-curricular activities, ensuring alignment with changing rules and sporting regulations, and coach small groups of students.
-Chair both scheduled and unscheduled staff meetings to address educational and administrative issues.
-Recommend referrals to Educational Psychologists and work with them, parents, and staff to support learners with difficulties.
-Facilitate the fulfillment of sporting fixtures and field trips to enrich the curriculum.
-Organize and conduct in-service training courses for staff and support professional development.
-Draw up and present the school budget to the finance committee for refinement.
-Investigate and implement curriculum improvements through attendance at Ministry-run development workshops.
-Attend School Development meetings and represent the school as an ex-officio member.
-Attend relevant cluster, district, provincial, and national ATS meetings and conferences.
-Identify staff training needs and organize relevant resources for implementation.
-Prepare documents for approval of school fees by the Responsible Authority and Ministry.
-Lead disciplinary processes and ensure fair enforcement of school rules.
-Manage staff duties, timetables, and rosters for both academic and sporting activities.
-Monitor budgets, resource use, and expenditure.
-Prepare budget documents for approval by government authorities.
-Supervise non-professional staff through delegated supervision.
-Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Administration or a related field.
-Master’s Degree preferred.
-At least 10 years of experience as a Deputy Head or Senior Teacher in an ATS school.
