Job Description
The overall responsibility of this role is to oversee the implementation of forensic and investigation policies; to drive prevention, sensitisation and training of staff and other stakeholders on proactive fraud-prevention measures; to act as the liaison between the Group, Business Units and law-enforcement agencies, including court appearances; and to monitor staff integrity and escalate any concerns for remedial action by the respective Business Unit management.

Duties and Responsibilities

Investigation
Providing Group-wide investigation capability and leading significant and sensitive fraud, theft, and corruption cases.
Ensuring that matters where there is a significant fraud loss to the Group/business unit have a forum established, as applicable, comprising all relevant stakeholders to ensure proper management and maximize recovery efforts.
Ensuring that any control failures identified during an investigation are immediately brought to the attention of the responsible business unit.
Continuously evaluating cases allocated to direct reports for investigation in line with set guidelines and standards.
Liaising and working with law enforcement agencies, professionals, and commercial organizations in this field of expertise.
Developing training awareness courses, workshops, brochures, and other material to alert employees to the Business Unit’s policy on relevant forensic investigation topics.

Driving Digital Forensics Strategy and Capabilities
Setting up and maintaining a functioning and effective Forensics Lab to support fraud and investigation initiatives across the Group.
Conducting forensically sound acquisitions, analysis, and examinations of computer systems and associated media, either on-site or in the lab, ensuring continuity of all exhibits and maintaining integrity throughout.
Securing and retrieving data from computer systems, utilizing proprietary and bespoke software to preserve evidence gathered during investigations.
Providing a scene/fieldwork response to digital investigations.
Recording details of analysis and investigations undertaken and maintaining confidentiality of this information.
Providing high-quality written and oral evidence to support investigations/operations that can be presented and used by officers.
Attending court as a witness in support of such evidence.
Conducting and assisting on complex cases; providing specialist support to internal and external partners.
Working with Senior Investigators to determine appropriate digital forensic strategies for investigations.

Stakeholder Management
Engaging and communicating the department’s philosophy to direct reports/stakeholders and ensuring they understand the responsibility of the department vs. Business Unit responsibility.
Interacting with counterparts in the industry to share information, engender cooperation, and gain a common understanding of threats and risks.
Building and maintaining relationships with external parties (e.g., Criminal Investigative Department, Revenue Authority) to ensure cooperation can be obtained when required for key investigations.
Communicating the Forensic Investigations philosophy to direct reports/stakeholders and ensuring they understand the responsibilities of Forensic Investigations vs. business unit responsibilities.
Identifying fraud risks and emerging risks during investigations or interactions with internal/external stakeholders and escalating upon discovery to the relevant Business Unit for assessment and closing gaps related to processes, policies, and systems.

People Management
Managing a team to ensure effective delivery of services to stakeholders.
Determining and analyzing development needs for the team and ensuring identified training requirements are budgeted for and executed.
Developing a high-performing team by embedding formal performance development and informal coaching.
Encouraging frequent knowledge sharing between team members.
Reviewing and maintaining succession plans.

Business Management
Translating set strategy into operational business plans.
Constantly reviewing the number of cases reported to improve investigation methodologies and criteria and adjusting accordingly to a risk-based approach.
Conducting monthly oversight reviews with direct reports to understand business performance and supporting them to develop corrective actions where required.

Operational Oversight and Guidance
Assessing and updating investigative policies/procedures and ensuring implementation and adherence.
Ensuring that minimum investigation standards are set and adhered to.
Executing investigation activities end-to-end for sensitive or high-risk cases (on an ad hoc basis or when tasked by management) or delegating to direct reports where appropriate.
Ensuring feedback is provided to management/stakeholders regarding high-level/sensitive cases.
Providing suitable training material, best practice activity, and advisory services to the Forensic function.

Cyber Security
Reviewing business and cyber security environments to identify areas where fraud can occur.
Developing a cyber fraud management plan with appropriate detection, response, and recovery capabilities.
Assessing the effectiveness of measures against the cyber fraud risk management plan.
Developing a documented action plan containing policies, practices, and procedures that mitigate identified risks.
Establishing a standard methodology for performing cyber-related frauds to ensure evidence obtained can be presented in court if needed.
Evaluating effectiveness of current cyber fraud response plan against industry practices.
Evaluating response plans periodically to ensure relevance.
Rating and categorizing potential cyber fraud incidents.
Recommending suitable enhancements to improve cyber fraud performance.
Attesting, through reports, to the Board Committees (Group Risk and Compliance Committee and BU Risk and Compliance Committees) on the status of the fraud risk management control system within the Group.
Overseeing monthly tracking throughout the Group of the status and changes in the fraud risk and control environment through appropriate reporting.

Qualifications and Experience

BSc from a recognized University preferably in Computer Science, Finance, Business, Business uniting, Law, Criminal Justice Studies, or a relevant field. MBA degree will be an added advantage.
Post graduate qualification in Digital Forensics together with industry certifications such as Access Data Certified Examiner, Certified EnCase Examiner etc.
Professional qualification in CFE / CISA / CISM or other relevant certification is an added advantage.
Experience of working in a multinational, multi-segment, environment with matrix reporting.
More than 5 years’ experience in leading a fraud / forensic investigations team with a minimum of 3 years’ direct digital forensics experience using Analytics techniques and tools (Linear and Logistic Regression, Clustering Techniques, Neural Network, Decision Trees, etc. for fraud risk management.
Familiarity with wide array of Fraud Analysis tools, applications and solutions such as FTK, Encase, Axiom, Cellebrite, Tableau, Write Blockers.
