The World Food Programme (WFP) Zimbabwe Country Office seeks the services of a Finance and Information Management Graduate Intern to support the Operations, Coordination and Support Unit (OCSU) in enhancing data-driven decision-making and strategic planning. The intern will apply data science techniques, financial analysis, and advanced research methods—including AI tools—to analyze political and economic developments, food security trends, market conditions, and humanitarian needs.
The role will contribute to the generation of actionable insights through predictive modeling, financial forecasting, and data visualization, supporting WFP’s operational coordination and strategic planning efforts. The intern will also assist in the development of dashboards, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

ABOUT WFP ZIMBABWE:
WFP Zimbabwe has a strong track record of delivering food assistance and managing supply chains during crises, while building resilience to shocks among vulnerable communities. The July 2022-December 2026 Country Strategic Plan (CSP) provides a road map to promote shock-responsive social protection and sustainable and resilient food systems. Our CSP articulates collaborative efforts to better anticipate future needs, improve data and forecasting and strengthen livelihoods and local capacities to withstand, respond to and adapt more readily to sudden or chronic stresses. WFP Zimbabwe support informed decision making on food security and nutrition, and integrates nutrition, gender, protection and inclusion, youth engagement, technological innovation and decentralized zero hunger action throughout the plan.

Duties and Responsibilities

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Data Collection & Management: Organize and maintain datasets from internal and external sources to ensure data integrity and accessibility.
Research and Data Analysis: Analyse financial commitment with cooperating partners or government stakeholders using statistical tools, AI, and machine learning techniques. Identify patterns, risks, and opportunities affecting WFP operations.
Reporting & Presentations: Prepare clear and concise reports and presentations summarizing data insights and monthly distribution analysis for WFP leadership and stakeholders.
Predictive Modelling & AI: Develop models to forecast food security trends, market conditions, and beneficiaries’ redemption patterns that may impact WFP’s programs.
Dashboards & Visualizations: Design interactive dashboards and visualizations to present monthly missions and complex data in an accessible way to decision-makers.
Collaboration: Work closely with various WFP teams and external partners to integrate data insights into operational strategies and decisions.
Ad-hoc Operational Support: Provide additional research, analysis, and strategic insights as needed for special projects, emergency preparedness, or urgent operational developments.

Qualifications and Experience

EDUCATION:
Recent or current graduate student in Finance, Information Management, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Political Science or a related discipline.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
-Data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).
-Experience with Budgeting, Cost Control, and financial modelling
-Strong analytical and forecasting skills.
-Effective communication and presentation abilities
-Familiarity with food security, humanitarian issues, and political dynamics.
-Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary and multicultural environment

LANGUAGES:
-Fluency in English;
