Sinohydro Corporation Limited, a global leader in hydroelectric and infrastructure development, invites suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the position of Electrical Engineer for the Tokwe Mukosi Hydro Power Plant Project in Zimbabwe. This role forms part of the core engineering team responsible for the installation, commissioning, and operational readiness of the hydro power facility.
Position Summary The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design supervision, installation, commissioning, and maintenance oversight of electrical systems associated with the hydro power plant. The role requires strong expertise in power generation systems, high-voltage infrastructure, and industrial automation within large-scale energy projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities -Supervise installation and commissioning of hydro generators and turbine control systems -Oversee medium- and high-voltage electrical systems (11kV–132kV or higher) -Manage installation of transformers, switchgear, protection relays, and control panels -Ensure integration of SCADA and automation systems -Conduct electrical testing, diagnostics, and performance optimization -Ensure compliance with Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) standards and international electrical codes -Coordinate with civil and mechanical engineering teams for seamless project execution -Prepare technical reports, commissioning documentation, and compliance certificates -Train and mentor local technical staff where required
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Qualifications & Experience -Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering -Minimum 5–10 years’ experience in power generation or hydroelectric projects -Proven experience in high-voltage systems installation and commissioning -Strong knowledge of electrical protection systems and load management -Experience with SCADA systems and industrial automation -Registration with a recognized engineering body is an added advantage
